BioMy name is Irma Hirsjärvi.
I am an official grandmother of Jyväskylä Science Fiction Society 42, a conrunner and a fan. I did my PhD thesis in March 2009 about Finnish science fiction fandom. The title of the book is Faniude siirtymiä. Suomalaiten science fiction fanien verkostot, published by the seris of Research Cnetre for Contemporary Culture.
My office is currently in The Research Centre for Contemporary Culture, Department of Arts and Culture Studies, in the University of Jyväskylä, Finland (http://users.jyu.fi/~ipanema/) where I work as a coordinator in the Global Comparative Research on Youth Media Participation (YMP 2009-2011) (http://www.jyu.fi/hum/laitokset/taiku/opiskelu/nykykulttuuri/en/youthmedia/main/). The project is funded by the Academy of Finland and includes partners from Argentina, Egypt and Finland.
I have involved arranging several Finncons (www.finncon.org, sf and fantasy seminars, some EU projects (like www.balticring.org), sf researchers meetings as well as other scienctific seminars and conferences.
My diary - if there ever shall be any activities in it - shall include fan stuff, sf, and very little anything personal.
